People for People, Inc. and Volt Energy Receive $300,000 Grant To Train 80 People for Green Jobs In Philadelphia, PA
Philadelphia, PA - People For People, Inc. and Volt Energy announced today that they were awarded a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Labor and Industry for $300,000 to provide green job training. This 24-month program will provide 80 adults with literacy, basic skills education and work-readiness training focusing on the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy. Program participants will also have access to job placement services and a wide array of supportive services to help them overcome employment barriers. Individuals who complete the program will receive industry-recognized degrees and certificates.
"The People for People/Volt Energy green job training program is an important investment in Philadelphia's future," said Mayor Michael Nutter. "This private-public partnership will provide critical education, workforce training and job placement services that will empower citizens to help drive the Philadelphia region's economic recovery while preparing our workforce to serve the needs of an evolving green society."
People for People Founder and CEO, Reverend Dr. Herbert H. Lusk, II remarked, “It is important to help people enter the economy of tomorrow. This program will assist us with helping people not only obtain jobs, but to develop careers that will have a positive impact on our families and communities.”
